In the previous project I focused a lot on the composition and the overall picture. In this project I wanted to focus a lot on the macro details. The texturing as well as the sculpting. I was very inspired by the colors and the style in the concept.
It was tricky to have something mostly white, but I tried to add some splashes of color to give it that feeling of a painting just in the texturing.

The color palette for creating the whole scene was challenging as well. I went with a bright blue sky and white sand. I felt these two colors really complimented each other. I looked up a lot of references from Morocco regarding the architecture style as well as the color palette.

Detail pass showing the normal maps. In Zbrush main brushes used were trim dynamic and trim smooth border. I just did the basic sculpting of giving some areas chips and damage. The rest was taken care by textures.

For the succulents I created a few variations and that was enough to create different succulent arrangements. I also added a tiny bit of emissive to help them pop out a bit.

In addition to hand painting I also made a custom mask generator I made in Designer to generate stylized edges based on the world position texture.

Paintovers for the color palette options. I was leaning to choose yellow sand but decided against it as it took away too much attention from the building.
